The Art of Outdoor Living at IDS Toronto 2024

Continuing a longstanding relationship with the Interior Design Show, LIV Design Studio had the opportunity to present The Art of Outdoor Living booth at IDS Toronto 2024. Building upon our studio’s previous work in the augmented-reality space while furthering our commitment to uplifting talented young designers, this immersive experience was both a celebration of the great Canadian outdoors and a showcase of our TECH/DESIGN/CULTURE approach.

The Secret Bar at IDS Toronto 2023

For IDS Toronto 2023, LIV Design Studio was invited to create The Secret Bar. Responding to IDS Toronto 2023’s theme of ‘Moving Parts’, our team was inspired to create an adaptable, multi-use space that paired our own core tenets, TECH/DESIGN/CULTURE with distinct areas within the bar that each served their own unique purpose.

Brentwood Hillside

Perched above the treetops, Concord Brentwood’s Hillside community forges a strong connection with nature in one of Metro Vancouver’s most central addresses. This phase of the exciting undertaking consists of two striking towers – divided into East and West – each elevated just above the treeline to leave 38-feet of vertical space below for a landscaped motor court and lush greenery that residents can enjoy.

White Oak

BPC Floral Installation

The lobby of the Burnaby Presentation Centre has been transformed into a floral reflection on future living at Concord Metrotown.

As you enter, the density of the florals unfolds before you, opening into a wider space. Replete with marble, the colour A.I. Aqua anchors the hues and its shade of blue surrounds you in a wonderland of dried flowers.

Bridge Suites

Suspended in the sky, Concord’s “Bridge Suite” connects two residential towers in a breathtaking way. Located at 10 Capreol Court, this three-level and 4,000 square foot home is simply iconic. Completed in 2010, the suite has 360-degree views of Toronto that cannot be replicated.

Westin Bayshore

The Westin Bayshore opened its doors in 1961 establishing Vancouver as a resort destination. At the city’s edge, next to Stanley Park, this gem, now managed by Marriott Bonvoy, still reflects its mid-century roots but has been renovated and expanded in an elegant and impressive manner.

Toronto Presentation Centre

The Toronto presentation centre, combining two existing retail spaces was designed for impact as powerful as the Concord legacy along Toronto’s waterfront. Opulent and grand, it opens to a reception area featuring a back-lit, onyx reception desk and a custom chandelier made of tear drop-shaped, individually suspended crystals that create the illusion of rising and falling in waves.

W1

Located in South Vancouver’s newest neighbourhood town centre, Marine Gateway, Concord’s W1 luxury development features exceptional amenities for inspired living including hotel-like lobby and 24 hour concierge, expansive banquet hall with catering kitchen, movie screening room, fitness centre, yoga studio, ping pong room, roof deck gardens, car wash station etc.

LIV created three different colour schemes for suite interiors all of which feature custom millwork, wide plank flooring, fully integrated European-inspired kitchens with Miele appliances.

The Concord – Eau Claire

In Calgary, Concord has partnered with Arthur Erickson and Nick Milkovich Architects. The late Arthur Erickson, one of Canada’s most celebrated architects, redefined 20th-century architecture, designing some of the most iconic civic projects around the world over his 55-year career. His life-long business partner, Nick Milkovich continues his legacy and vision with the design of Eau Claire.

The result is timeless, trend-defying elegance – a riverfront masterpiece featuring a glittering, heavily glazed exterior, rooftop greenery, and balconies that play with the unique, irregular geometry of the structure.

Opus & Omega On The Park

The Opus and Omega towers are minimal, luxury developments with mid-century references. Designed by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects the two slender towers offer residents expansive views and impressive amenity package (fitness centre, children’s play area, a pet spa, bowling lane, a lounge, a meeting room, guest suites, a zen courtyard, social quadrangle with barbecue and alfresco dining area).

The lobby is a bright, light filled space that looks through to the landscaped gardens and recreational facilities. Suites are wide and shallow with rooms along the exterior for maximum natural light.

Newton – CityPlace

As part of Downtown Toronto’s largest master-planned community featuring residential towers, 120,000 SF of retail, an 8 acre park, library, schools, and a community centre, the Newton Tower is perfectly situated near the city, the lakefront and everything you need.

Walking district to the financial district and offering views of Lake Ontario, it marries creativity and functionality to great effect, making a bold statement. Taking the form of a glass pavilion, the Newton features wide balconies, contemporary lines and attitude that pushes residents to live creatively.

North York Presentation Centre

Concord Park Place is situated in North York, bordering North Toronto. Central to the city, Concord Park Place will account for 45 acres with over 5,000 homes, making it the second largest master-planned community in Toronto, second only to Concord CityPlace.

The ARC Vancouver Display Suite

Concord Pacific has unveiled one of the most striking towers Vancouver has ever seen at the North end of the Cambie Street bridge.

A nod to new ‘Vancouverism’, The ARC is a bold, luxurious ‘gateway’ to Vancouver’s downtown – a modernist (and residential) take on civic arches like Paris’ L’Arc de Triomphe or Saarinen’s Gateway Arch in St. Louis.

The LIV-designed display suite echoes the scale and presence of this new landmark featuring exquisite marble, precision millwork and metallic flourishes throughout.

The ARC Vancouver

The ARC pioneers a serious commitment to community and urban living. With over 12,000 sq. ft. of amenity space, the ARC includes Canada’s highest, gravity-defying, glass-bottom pool, dedicated lounge space, as well as a cappuccino lounge.

Compared to other residential projects, the dedicated expansive areas to amenities and community life ensures residents are enticed to expand their horizons beyond the confines of their suites – for LIV, this is the new Vancouverism – design that encourages community.

Surrey Presentation Centre

The Surrey Presentation Centre provides visitors with their initial glimpse into an expansive residential project in the fast-growing Metro Vancouver suburb of Surrey. LIV was tasked with the redesign of an existing compact corner display suite into a brand new captivating space that showcases a kitchen, living room and bathroom.

The design needed to amplify the appearance of a compact corner and convey a sense of luxury and space to attract visitors. To maximize the use of the space and to realize the client’s vision, LIV completed a full renovation – no aspects of the original space were retained and all original interior partitions and walls were torn down.

T&Co Cafe

Contemporary and elegant, the neutral walls and marble arch that greet guests to the Westin Bayshore’s T&Co lobby café are beautifully anchored by blue velvet bar stools and elegant gold finishes. The corrugated paneling around the arch adds depth and texture and helps articulate the space from its surroundings.

The architecture and design elements of T&Co successfully set apart this small food service space while still blending seamlessly with the older decor elements of the hotel.

IDS 2019 VIP Lounge

Inspired by the IDS Vancouver 2019 theme of Design DNA, the LIV Design Studio Team used timeless design elements and principles such as line, shape, form, colour and pattern, which visually echoed throughout the VIP Lounge’s design. Through architectural elements and interior materials and finishes, the team created a regal and relaxing VIP experience for IDS Vancouver 2019 VIP Lounge guests.

IDS Vancouver 2018 – IDIBC Booth

LIV was commissioned by IDIBC, BC Interior Design’s Professional Association, to create their exhibition space at IDS Vancouver 2018. A huge honour, LIV Design wanted to ensure the space thoughtfully and beautifully educated the general public about the interior design profession, highlighted industry achievements and, finally, provided an inviting, gathering space for industry and trade show events.

We used colour, shape and form boldly and ensured the immersive space flowed well to accommodate the hundreds of visitors. Using timeless, elegant designs in shades of terracotta, pink, and deep teal and punctuated by a daring, floral wall covering, we ensured IDIBC’s booth left a lasting impression on each and every visitor.

Toronto Display Suite

In order to create a warm and cosy interior for the display suite, we used neutral wood-tones, complemented by soft, velvety fabrics and textures. Light-coloured stones & gold metals were used as accents to create a feeling of luxury and elegance.

The overall colour scheme was kept light and bright and to further open up the space, we used mirrors on the ceilings to create the illusion of height in the living & dining rooms. Custom designed headboards and bespoke millwork details added to the tailored nature of the display suite and cleverly employed lighting, defined focal points and design features.

H Tasting Lounge

Vancouver Presentation Centre

Inspired by the serenity of Claude Debussy’s classical piece, “Six Epigraphes Antiques”, the Vancouver Sales Centre was conceptualized to complement the natural tranquility of False Creek.

The visitor is greeted by the visual splendour of a black marble wall and contrasting white onyx desk under a spectacular custom lighting feature. The stone’s polished material reveals a beautiful organic pattern while its reflective nature gently enhances and anchors the radiance of the grand chandelier above.

The repeated waveform of the lighting creates a symmetry easily followed by the eyes as it transitions from one end of the room to the other. During both day and night, the lights create an amazing visual contrast against the double-height black marble wall.

Brentwood Presentation Centre

One Pacific Display Suites

Centered on accessible luxury, this space was curated as the epitome of cosmopolitan comfort. Using various intricate lighting techniques, earth tones accented by dark colours and anchored by a classic fireplace, the suite conveys a subtle, luxurious take on modern life. The open kitchen and dining area design are ideal for entertaining while the custom self rotating storage system delivers functionality and efficiency.

Concord Garden Display Suites

Various lighting techniques and dramatic glass fixtures create an enhanced spatial experience for visitors to the display suites. The use of glass and acrylic elements juxtapose those of oak and marble, beautifully marrying classic and modern design. Inside the one room – a den or office – a marble carousel horse and an antique sewing machine add to the whimsy and nostalgia of the fabric paneling and custom furniture created for the space.

Omega Display Suites

The ample use of white surfaces create a fresh, spacious feel while carefully chosen decorative elements provide warmth and interest to this living space. Open closet spaces accentuated by simple colours provide a relaxing take on executive living.

Park Avenue Display Suites

A neutral colour palette, layered materials and ambient lighting, coupled with contemporary furnishings and custom millwork combine to create this comfortable, modern example of upscale living. Concealed lighting reveals different levels of luxurious textures and surfaces within a fluid kitchen and dining space ideal for entertaining.
